A few spring tips to keep your home looking its best, plus our maintenance checklist.

Spring has a way of making us notice everything in our homes again. Maybe it’s more light coming through the windows, exposing walls that need a gentle refresh.
BLC Painting’s Spring Interior Maintenance Checklist
- Inspect walls for cracks. Spot hairline cracks, nail pops, or seams before they worsen.
- Clean painted surfaces. Dust and grime build up over winter and degrade paint over time.
- Check high-humidity areas. Look for bubbling or discoloration in bathrooms and kitchens.
- Touch up scuffs & trim. Small fixes now protect the integrity of the full paint job.
- Assess your ceilings. Winter moisture and ice dams often leave stains that surface in spring.
- Refresh before summer. Spring is the ideal time to update a space before the busy season.
II.Specific Places to Watch & What to Look Out For
Flat finishes are not washable. Spot-clean only with a barely damp cloth using gentle blotting. Avoid scrubbing, as this will burnish the surface and create a visible sheen difference.
Use a soft cloth with mild soap and warm water. Never use abrasive cleaners or magic erasers. Eggshell tolerates light cleaning; matte is more delicate and should always be spot treated with extra care.
Always run your exhaust fan before, during, and after every shower. Crack a door or window to allow moisture to fully escape. Ventilation is the single most important habit for protecting your bathroom walls.
Satin and semi-gloss are your most durable and washable surfaces. Wipe down with a damp cloth as needed.
Here’s to a fresh season ahead!
Noticing cracks, stains or tired walls this spring? We’re glad to take a look.
